History of the Art Salons
Back in the 90's there were a group af artists, mostly filmmakers who
needed a place to showcase their newest work or works in progress and
offering the educated group of artists the opportunity to discuss,
comment and make suggestions about the work. Kapra Fleming opened her house to the group for art, conversation and food. In the 90's "when I attended my first Salon I was completely impressed
by the caliper not only of the participants who were the shakers and
movers of film and art in Chicago, at the time, but also the work being
presented and the openness of the conversation" (Miguel Lopez). We thought about bringing the combination of visiting artist and the
Art Salons to open the doors to artistic relationships and conversation. Our goal is to offer the Chicago Art experience so that residency guest meet the City and its Culture.
