The depth and breadth of contemporary Latino/a poetry will take over this historic jazz venue as 21 poets read one poem each as part of the Associated Writing Programs Conference in Chicago.
Lisa Alvarado, Carlos Cumpián, Silvia Curbelo, Gina Franco, Gabe Gómez, Irasema González, Maurice Kilwein Guevara, Gabriela Jauregui, Olivia Maciel, Carl Marcum, Valerie Martínez, Orlando Ricardo Menes, Achy Obejas, Daniel A. Olivas, Johanny Vázquez Paz, Paul Martínez Pompa, Linda Rodríguez, Jacob Saenz, Jorge Sánchez, Juan Manuel Sánchez, & Rich Villar.
Since 1947, the Jazz Showcase has presented all the jazz greats on its stage – Miles Davis, Billy Strayhorn, Dizzy Gillespie. (The posters on the walls are originals. The only older jazz club in the country is the Village Vanguard in NYC).
