HURRICANE RAIN

Winds from the South
carry pregnant clouds
with the force of the storm
stretching its arms
to the midriff
of touched land.
For two days the rain
has flown like a waterfall
skating down to the river
in the lush silhouette
of El Yunque.
I can feel the difference
of the hurricane rain
can almost smell the ocean
in its endless desire
to reach way beyond the shore
where the sea has never been
and the eye of the storm
can't command its need
for destruction.
